Peter Miller (or Millar) was born in 1807, probably in County Antrim, Ireland. In 1870, he and his wife, Margaret Cameron, were living in Broughdone, Cullybackey, in County Antrim. Peter died in Ballymena in 1879, and Margaret passed away after 1870.

Peter and his wife, Margaret, were still living in Broughdone, near Cullybackey, in Northern Ireland at the time, and John and his family had settled in Scott County, Iowa.
