Descendants of Johannes Heerburger and Juliana Schlegel
Johannes Heerburger (John Herburger) was born in 1805 in Isny im Allgau, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, son of Johannes Heerburger and Dorothea Albrecht. He fathered three children with his first wife, Anna Katharina Riedle before she died in 1839. Later that year, he married Juliana Katharina Schlegel, daughter of Johannes Schlegel and Elizabeth Gullmann. She was born in 1809 in Isny im Allgau and died in 1849 in Thann, Bayern, Germany. Following her death, John emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York in 1850. By 1860, he was living and working as a day laborer in Watertown, Wisconsin, and by 1868 had moved west to John Day, Oregon, where he was an early settler. He died in Canyon City, Oregon, in 1878.
